What is Cranial Therapy - Does Cranial Sacral Therapy Work?
So let me just explain a little bit and for those of you who don't know what it's about you may find that this modality may be something that could benefit you.
Cranio sacral therapy is incredibly useful for physical pain nervous dysfunction. High levels of stress. Different disorders of the nervous system postoperative things.
Just it just covers a whole lot of bases I can't even begin to tell you how much I've seen coming out of this work.
It's great for psychotic pain. I get a lot of very extremely good results taking the pain of sciatica away. It's gentle. It's five grams of pressure. It's allowing the body to Move and heal itself.
How cranial cycles is how cranial sacral therapy begin to or came into existence.
The inventor is a doctor Sutherland who had worked with the system and he realized that some of the bones moved differently with one another and did an experiment on himself where he put a football helmet on and had holes drilled in it. And there were some bolts that he put in and he wouldn't restrict the movement of the certain cranial bones at different times and he found that there was huge changes in how he felt and how his moods were and thinking processes and a lot of things.
So his work was started kind of a process and of course you can read more about it if you want to go deeper into it. And then Dr Pledger also was fascinated with that and discovered it through surgery when he was working on somebodies spine.
He was assisting a surgeon and he was asked to hold something in place and he couldn't because there was a constant rhythm going up and down through this tube. So he became very interested in exploring that further and discovered the beauty of how this all comes together and the subtlety of it and put together. He's the one that put together the ten step protocol and the work that has been done over many years through the Upledger Institute. And they still do have classes going on. It's a kind of a therapy that is different for the person on the table because the person on the table usually expects to feel something more rough or more pressure or more movement from the exterior.
This work is different because it's about internal changes. It's about subtle changes. It's about changes that are deep within the system. It's about the parts of us that we really don't know. It's about the parts of us that we ignore. It's about the parts of us that we don't think having it has any significance. It's about finding that and feeling that in this work by turning inward and paying attention to the subtleties that's moving and the connection of the body and how it's interrelated really really amazingly so so it's a great modality not only for the therapist who physically is it's easier on it's a little bit more challenging in the focus and what you're picking up but it is easier physically. So anybody who is working with deep tissue or other massage bodywork modalities that take a lot of work from you you may find that by adding cranial sacral in the subtleties of it in a self correction that goes on that then the work that you do with the body in another session would be easier to manage because there is a really saying that has happened at the subtle level well there's a lot to be said for cranial work unfortunately.
Because it doesn't or fortunately maybe it doesn't get any peer reviews because it's pretty hard to do a peer review study. It is not really accepted by mainstream and I have my opinions about why that might be and in some ways I think that's good because this is the modality that can be done without a lot of restrictions and regulations and rules and all of that people can get this into their hands and help their friends their family their clients in ways that is unbelievable really and truly.
So I'm going through here just a ten step too. But you see the positioning of the hands in the video I'm explaining it a lot more as to what to do with giving some little hints that I have found over the years.
It's my desire and intention to begin to see this work being used all over the place.
But it's also my desire that the system the medical system doesn't regulate it and doesn't take it into their you know their scheme of things because it will be definitely watered down.
I've seen people come off of pain medications within the by the next day of of a session.
Oftentimes it's not quite that fast but it can be.
And it's happened more than once I've seen psychotic pain that people have been suffering with and being in treatment for for a long time without any kind of significant changes change really quickly.
Migraine Headaches and people who have had them so severely that their entire life is designed around when they have a headache and what they can do and can't do because they have to consider the headache might be there several times a week blinding headaches that just put them in a dark room lay down for hours sick to the stomach some of us know what those migraines can be like to wear if they even get a migraine or a headache it's just a shadow of one and just an annoyance rather than taking people out. And I believe that the main thrust of why this is not accepted by the systems medicine which I feel that that system is not really one that is helping humanity to realize how is that many many many people find that they don't need that level of medication.
That has been pushed on them for the pain that they have to just suffer through and what's so beautiful about the body is that it wants to be whole and it wants to be be in inservice to us it wants to have fun it wants to play wants to feel joy it doesn't want to be focused on pain.
And so by observing the body and giving it the help that it needs we can have everything we want in the way of health.
If we give it good food clean water clean air the whole entire medical system can see radical changes rather than building more hospitals and more kidney units and more of this and more that and more drugs more insurance and more money.
And rather than that we can come back to our Ganic selves and live as we are and really been designed to live in harmony with nature and with harmony with what nature has provided for us.
So I'm just feeling these bones happening in the head here and they're making some changes there. They're moving around. The cranial sections cranial sacral work is also extremely beneficial for people under high stress.
Because when you are able to let yourself go and relax and the bones begin to move the membrane begins to move.
The nervous system gets relaxed and is somewhat sedated and when it's sedated then any kind of stress hormones will be turning off were triggered a lot with stress hormones. You know everything is stressful traffic and we're going deadlines and children and traffic and high prices and all of that.
To get a session and to allow yourself one hour to just go into a very very deep relax state will allow the body to turn off those stress hormones that keep it in fight or flight and win the fight or flight is turned off.
The body is able to heal able to correct.
You have to think clearer. You able to kind of take that deep breath and see that the world isn't necessarily collapsing around our feet. So all in all I would say it's about beginning to find a new perception on how to take care of the body and how to.
Remedy a lot of pain.
And even though there may be other things needed other modalities needed even medications in certain cases.
That's all ok because you're tending to the subtleties of the body or you're tending to the core of the body you're tending to the deep sacred parts of you when you are undergoing these types of treatments.
So as not only a physical level but at the esoteric level and at an emotional level there is so much benefit.
In all the years that I've practiced this I have really come to the conclusion that I think that this modality is the hub of of stepping onto a new pathway to wholeness. And I say that only because it addresses the most internal the most core parts of us.
And I really do not think that we can heal ourselves effectively by not going to the very root core level and helping the correction happen there. First.
If you're into stepping into something new and not being blinded by the perception that we're told we have to look at instead starting to reason things out with how our bodies were designed and how they were created.
Basically now I feel a softening, she's softer. It's a quality. There's a deep relaxation here. The bones are very balanced. And, I think that she will find that cranial sacral will be one of her centerpieces. Her entire life to keep her on track.
